ACC Regents Approve Equipment Purchases
 
The Alvin Community College Board of Regents approved equipment purchases for several workforce training programs during their meeting on April 25.
The board unanimously approved a $62,500 contract to purchase a holographic patient simulator for the EMS program. The simulator will utilize both virtual and augmented reality technology for students to practice their skills treating patients.
The purchase was funded by a grant from the Texas Reskilling and Upskilling through Education program.
Regents also unanimously approved an $86,500 contract for Welding equipment and supplies for students in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice program. The cost for the project will be funded through the TDCJ Post-Secondary Education Reimbursement provision.
The board also:
-approved contract for food services
-approved contract for natural gas supplier
-heard update on Strategic Planning goals
-approved a revision of local policy
-approved hiring an English instructor
-approved monthly financial reports
The board will have its next meeting at 6 p.m. on May 14 at the Nolan Ryan Center.
